Hello all,

My name is Anamika Khare, and I have set up this fundraiser for my 8-year-old nephew, Utkarsh Khare, who is fighting to stay alive.

Just a month ago, Utkarsh was a bright, cheerful child, running around the house, laughing, and playing like any other child his age. Today, he lies in a hospital bed at Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon, fighting a rare and life-threatening condition called Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). This is a disorder where the body’s immune system attacks its own nerves, leading to rapid-onset muscle weakness and even paralysis.

Utkarsh’s initial complaints were simple symptoms, weakness in his legs, and tiredness, but within days, his condition deteriorated so rapidly that he was unable to walk or even move. He was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago, and after extensive tests, he was diagnosed with GBS. Since then, he has undergone plasma exchange and blood transfusions to help remove the harmful antibodies attacking his nerves.

Despite the doctors’ best efforts and the incredible strength Utkarsh continues to show, the treatment is intensive and expensive, weighing heavily on our family. His medical costs have already crossed Rs. 7 lakhs, and the family has exhausted all their savings. Unfortunately, Rs. 30 lakhs more is needed to continue the transfusions, hospitalization, and long-term rehabilitation.

Utkarsh’s parents are doing everything they can, but with only one earning member in the family and the emotional toll of seeing their only child suffer, the situation is heartbreaking. Watching my nephew, who is just 8 years old, fighting to live is devastating. As a family member, I have set up this fundraiser to help them arrange the amount of money required for his treatment.
